Jazz at Pearl's Night Club - Gone

Jazz at Pearl's - What's Happening?

THEY CLOSED THEIR DOORS IN EARLY AUGUST.

What's going to happen to this San Francisco Club? I know of many investors who would love to reopen those doors! However there is currently little information on what will happen. I will keep you posted.

Lyon @ Pacific Mansion Nearly Finished

Is the Market Still Slow For a Brand New Mansion in Pac-Heights?

Looks like this new home is almost finished. As soon as I hear more I will post. The house next door, which was also new construction and about the same size, was listed I believe in 2006 for around $14,000,000. Obviously that was at the peak of prices. I will do some more research to make sure that is true, and also to see what the developer paid for the land.

Back to Business

After a long and amazing vacation I am finally back. There has been a lot going on in the San Francisco real estate market, and a lot of articles, comps, pictures, and predictions are soon to come. Here are a couple of pictures from an old monastery in Cyprus.

Many Things Changing in the Presidio...... Presidio Arts Expanding

The Presidio is currently undergoing many changes. There are many new improvements happening. There is a huge emphasis on the Arts. New Museums, Cinema Centers, and Performing Arts Centers. Presidio Dance Theater is one place that is growing quickly. The new Doyle Drive Project is causing the Presidio Dance Theater to relocate. They are however planning on expanding to a new larger space.

I first saw the Presidio Dance Theater at the Palace of Fine Arts on May 23rd 2008. Presidio Dance Theatre's production of "Dancing Across Cultures" was a wondrous myriad of  dance at its best. Artistic Director,  Sherene Melania, one of SF’s most brilliant young  choreographers, has a unique  talent for blending old world tradition, pure classical technique, in an exciting contemporary way. The performance featured Presidio Dance Theatre company members, apprentices,  a select number junior company members. I found the multigenerational presentation exceptional.Highlights of the evening were new works premiered by Melania. A “Moldavian Suite”, consisting of the most rapidly intricate steps, and “Sallam Allay”,  reminiscent of an ancient harem. The fiery “Malambo” performed by two couples, displayed technical precision and powerful stage command. Presidio Dance Theatre has absolutely exquisite costumes, all designed by the Mariinsky Theatre of St. Petersburg, Russia. Melania’s choreography displays an innate sense of intelligence and artistic maturity. The theater was nearly sold out, Melania’s work is clearly in demand by audiences of all ages. It was a truly magical evening!

I'm off on vacation and will be back and running in August .. watch out for new reviews of neighborhood fun spots

A Foggy Paradise

1549  Willard St,  San Francisco

Listing Price - $1,295,000.00
This single-family house is located east UCSF and above Cole Valley. It is on a small street that almost seems suburban. If you don’t mind the fog, then this house is THE REAL DEAL. The house has had the same owners for 30 years, and no remodeling occurred. Although you have nothing to walk to (at least not right outside your door), the neighborhood’s “good vibe” makes up for it. Don’t believe me? Check it out yourself. This house will not last.

A Little Feng Shui in Lower Pac Heights

Sutter Heights

Luxury 1 and 2 Bedroom Condos

Sutter Heights is a new condominium development in Lower Pacific Heights. “The design of the Sutter Heights’ one and two bedroom residences was created by Levy Design Partners Inc., a San Francisco firm with a significant list of architectural credits. The architects consulted with Feng Shui expert, Seann Xenja, in the design process to create smart floor plans for today’s lifestyles (quoted from sales website).” The units are nice, but they are still a bit pricey considering the lack of views and only decent location.

Coronet Theater is Long Gone – Bring on the Old-Timers

3575 Geary Boulevard - Senior Living

The Institute on Aging  (IOA), a non-profit that devotes its time towards helping seniors, is constructing a 150 suite senior living facility. The old movie theater was torn down, and now the vacant lot awaits construction. It claims it will be “expertly designed independent living spaces for seniors of modest income and those with special needs.”
The IOA Board of Directors has initiated an $18 million fundraising campaign to help build the project.
